EOP STEM Peer Advising

STEM Peer Advising is a brand-new EOP program that aims to provide UCSC students with academic support and accountability from their peers.

What is STEM Peer Advising?

STEM Peer Advising is a new program where students have the opportunity to connect with a fellow STEM undergraduate student to develop their academic and personal skills as you navigate your STEM major. Our STEM Peer Advisors are committed to supporting, empowering and creating a plan that works for our students through one-on-one meetings and workshops. Peer Advisors take into account every aspect of students' lives, and support them in balancing their academics and personal life.

STEM Peer Advisors will collaborate with you to:

  • build academic skills (e.g. time management, note-taking, etc)
  • build help-seeking behaviors (e.g. navigate office hours and campus resources)
  • become self-regulated learners (e.g. learn strategies to manage test anxiety and imposter syndrome)
  • ...and much more! STEM Peer Advisors will tailor their advising to what you need

STEM Peer Advisors can also connect students to appropriate on-campus resources with referrals.

Who are STEM Peer Advisors?

STEM Peer Advisors are undergraduate students who are in their 3rd+ year as STEM students. STEM Peer Advisors provide academic accountability, support, and tips on how to navigate STEM majors at UCSC. STEM Peer Advisors complete extensive training involving holistic coaching, peer advising best practices, and resource navigation. Find out more about our advisors here!

When does STEM Peer Advising happen?

STEM Peer Advisors hold drop-in hours multiple times per week. No need to sign up, come as you are any time during the drop-in hours!

Where is STEM Peer Advising held?

STEM Peer Advising appointments and drop-in hours are held at Academic Resources Center 216A . If you're unsure where to go, check in at the EOP Front desk for directions.
