CMPM 15: Research Explorations enrolling for Winter 2025!
CMPM 15 (Research Explorations) is a 1-unit course for students of any background to explore computing and design in low time-commitment, relational reading groups. First-years are welcome! Many sponsoring faculty work with undergrads in their lab, and a few organize group research projects that accept a large number of students. You will attend weekly 1-hour long discussions, present 2 papers (one for each of your reading groups), and skim papers for the weeks you are not presenting.Next Gen SAM application open now!
The Next Gen SAM program at UCSC provides 2-year scholarships (up to $10,000/year for 2 years) for students interested in pursuing the 4+1 program leading to the Master of Science degree in Scientific Computing and Applied Mathematics.The Next Gen SAM scholarship program is now accepting applications for current seniors (who plan to graduate by Spring 2025). Apply HERE by December 18, 2024.

CHEM 3B/3BL enrollment update

CHEM 3B/CHEM 3BL waitlisting: If the course is full during second pass enrollment, students should enroll on the waitlist for CHEM 3BL ONLY (do not also enroll in CHEM 3B). Once a seat is secured in CHEM 3BL, the student must also enroll in CHEM 3B (unless CHEM 1A was already completed and the student is finishing the General Chemistry series by enrolling in CHEM 3BL – the “new CHEM 1M”).Please check the Chemistry & Biochemistry Advising website for more information.
MATH 16 Series & Prerequisite Changes
Starting in the 2024-2025 academic year, there are changes coming to the mathematics department with the addition of MATH 16A and MATH 16B, math courses tailored to be relevant to students studying life and environmental sciences. Refer to this document to see how this will affect math prerequisites in PBSci majors and classes.GCH Advising now has own advising department
