    5th year / Computer Engineering

Hey! My name is Miguel Tamayo my pronouns are he/him/his and I'm from Los Angeles. I'm currently a senior studying Computer Engineering with the hope of working in the aerospace industry one day. I decided to become a peer adviser because I want to help students follow their dreams in the STEM field the same way I received guidance when I arrived at UCSC. STEM can be extremely challenging but not impossible to conquer. I support STEM students because I want to see other students realize that their potential is much more than what they believe it is. A fun fact about me is that I'm obsessed with space and anything that has to do with it!

    4th year / Human Biology

Hi, my name is Diana Jerez. My pronouns are she/her/hers, I am a Human Biology major from South Central, Los Angeles. My freshman year peer adviser helped me find a career path I’m interested in through personalized mentorship, words of encouragement, and unconditional support. I want to be that person for incoming students who may have trouble navigating the resources on campus and/or need someone to ask for advice. As I finalize my academic journey here at UCSC, I would like to dedicate my remaining time as an outlet for students who might be in the same position I found myself in as a first-gen Latina, from a low-income background in college. A fun fact about me is that I performed a skit on the Hamilton stage at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood in front of 2.5k people my junior year of high school.

Hello! :) My name is Cayla Gapusan and my pronouns are she/her/hers. I am originally from Stockton, California, and a current 2nd year as a proposed Human Biology major with hopes of working as a Physical Therapist. I am a peer adviser because during my first year I understood the struggles of navigating college on my own. Being in that position before I want to help those who are feeling the same and need guidance in continuing on the right track. One fun fact about me was that I was a previous member of Team USA for Karate!

    2nd year / Biology

Hi everyone! My name is Alejandra and I am from San Diego. I am a second year Biology major and I wanted to be a peer adviser because I wanted to provide help and advice to students, especially those who are first generation students who feel completely lost. I want to help introduce the opportunity of more people becoming involved and aware of what STEM can offer especially to those hesitant about taking the leap. A fun fact about myself is I have been to over 20 states!

    Rolando Garcia

My name is Rolando Garcia, my pronouns are He/Him/His, and I am a third year undergraduate student from South Central Los Angeles double majoring in Neuroscience and Psychology. I chose to become a peer adviser because I have been a strong admirer of EOP's mission to, "serve and support first-generation, low-income, and educationally disadvantaged students", and being a STEM Hub peer adviser gives me the privilege and opportunity to lend a helping hand to fellow students whom I can personally relate to and assist. Fun fact about myself... I'm just a Gemini who loves music, film, and sports.
